During a press conference held on DOGE Day, Congressman Aaron Bean of Florida’s 4th District introduced three legislative proposals designed to reduce government spending. Bean, who is the founder and co-chair of the House DOGE Caucus, emphasized the need for fiscal responsibility.
“America is in danger. Not only do we have $36 trillion in debt, but we are adding $1 trillion in debt every 100 days. That means all the promises we’ve made as a government to our veterans and seniors—to take care of them—are in danger because we are overspending ourselves into oblivion. The American people said they want change, and the DOGE Caucus is here to make that change and ensure the government works for the people,” stated Congressman Bean.
The proposed legislation includes:
– The DRAIN THE SWAMP Act: This bill would empower the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) to relocate 30% of federal agency staff away from Washington, D.C., while requiring those remaining to work onsite full-time.
– The CUTS Act: Aimed at reducing expenditure by eliminating certain Green New Deal initiatives and reclaiming unspent Covid funds.
– The PUT YOUR MONEY WHERE YOUR MOUTH IS Act: This proposal seeks to cut congressional office budgets by $100,000 annually.
The press conference was organized with participation from several members of the House DOGE Caucus including Co-chair Congressman Pete Sessions, Congresswoman Beth Van Duyne, Congressman Ben Cline, Congresswoman Nicole Malliotakis, and Congressman Ralph Norman.
