In response to the discovery of over $160 billion in fraudulent payments during Fiscal Year 2024, DOGE Caucus co-chairs Congressmen Aaron Bean, Blake Moore, and Pete Sessions have introduced the Delivering on Government Efficiency (DOGE) in Spending Act. The proposed legislation aims to combat financial fraud and misuse of taxpayer funds by enforcing strict payment verification measures through the U.S. Department of the Treasury.

Congressman Aaron Bean emphasized the need for responsible management of tax dollars: “For too long, improper and fraudulent payments have drained resources and undermined trust in government spending. The American people deserve responsible stewardship of their tax dollars, and this bill delivers exactly that.”

Congressman Blake Moore highlighted Republican efforts to address wasteful spending: “Republicans in Congress remain focused on reining in wasteful spending, streamlining our bureaucracy, and making Washington work better for Americans.”

Congressman Pete Sessions expressed his commitment to increasing transparency: “I’m proud to cosponsor this legislation that brings increased transparency and accountability to the U.S. Treasury.”

The bill mandates that the U.S. Department of the Treasury provide detailed descriptions before disbursing funds, link payments to verified budget accounts, and cross-check them against government databases for accuracy. Expenditures will be made publicly accessible on USAspending.gov with annual updates.

Senator Joni Ernst has introduced similar legislation in the Senate.
