The Nassau County Sheriff’s Office announced on Apr. 22 the arrest of Frederick John Combs, who faces two counts of possession of child sexual abuse material and additional charges related to possessing pornographic images and videos involving a person and an animal.

Authorities said the investigation began on January 5, when the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children sent a cyber tip reporting that an individual had uploaded three files classified as child sexual abuse material. The Nassau County Sheriff’s Office (NCSO) followed up with assistance from Homeland Security Investigations Task Force Officers.

On April 14, investigators located Combs living in an RV on another person’s property in Hilliard. A search of his electronic devices uncovered images and videos matching those described in the cyber tip, including some depicting animals engaged in sexual acts with humans. Combs was taken into custody without incident and is currently being held at the Nassau County Jail pending further court proceedings.

Sheriff Bill Leeper said, “This individual is sick and disturbing, and there is no place in our community for this kind of behavior. We will continue to work aggressively with our federal partners to identify, investigate, and arrest those who exploit children.”

The case was investigated as part of INTERCEPT’s ongoing efforts against child exploitation and internet crimes involving children. The NCSO said it continues to work closely with federal agencies to address these issues.
