CITY OF PALM COAST: City of Palm Coast announces events, activities for March 2020

Announce

City of Palm Coast issued the following announcement.

Palm Coast -The Mayor's 90/90 Challenge officially started Jan. 6 and runs through April 4. Complete 90 miles in 90 days and receive an award and recognition at the City Council meeting on Tuesday, April 7! "Those small steps, taken day after day, add up to a healthy lifestyle," Mayor Holland said. Log on to palmcoastconnect.com or download the Palm Coast Connect app from the Google Play store or the Apple app store. See a list of all March activities, including the winter/spring schedule, at www.parksandrec.fun.

Special Events for March:

March 2 - Nine and Dine - Monday, March 2, 4-7 p.m. at Palm Harbor Golf Club, 20 Palm Harbor Drive. Enjoy a 9 hole game of golf and dinner at The Green Lion Café! Book your tee time with Palm Harbor Golf Club, play your round and then enjoy a nice meal. Show your tee time receipt to The Green Lion Café for a special discount on your meal. $35/person (tee time is $20 and dinner is $15). Tee time required. March 2 through 30 - Monday Funday - Mondays, March 2, 16, & 30, 10-11 a.m. at Palm Coast Community Center, 305 Palm Coast Pkwy. NE. Let's reclaim Mondays! For too long, Monday has been the most dreaded day of the week. Well, that ends now! This child-with-parent program will provide an enjoyable and educational environment for your child to explore social, emotional, physical and cooperative play opportunities through movement, music, interactions, and problem-solving skills while having fun with their peers! March 2 through April 6 - Intro to Sculpture - Mondays, March 2-April 6 (no class March 9), 4-6 p.m. at Palm Coast Community Center, 305 Palm Coast Pkwy. NE. Come challenge yourself, bring your imagination, and use your creativity in six fun sculpture classes. March 4 - Our Neck of the Woods - Wednesday, March 4, 10-11 a.m. at Linear Park, 31 Greenway Court, Palm Coast. Discover the treasures hidden throughout Linear Park! Through the use of storytime, crafts, nature walks, and the occasional critter meet-and-greet, this program will augment your child's cognitive learning, communication skills, and hand-eye coordination. Start and end at PC Bike for this 10-mile bike ride. If there is inclement weather, including temperatures below 45 degrees, there will be no bike ride. March 13 - Discover Trips: Pioneer Art Settlement - Friday, March 13, 9 a.m.-4 p.m. to and from Palm Coast Community Center, 305 Palm Coast Pkwy. NE. A visit to Barberville Pioneer Settlement is truly a unique experience. The historical village is nestled within a charming, moss-draped oak hammock in western Volusia County. March 14 - Healthcare Provider - Saturday, March 14, 9 a.m.-1:30 p.m. at Fire Station 25, 1250 Belle Terre Pkwy., Palm Coast. The Basic Life Support (BLS) for healthcare providers course provides healthcare professionals the ability to recognize several life-threatening emergencies, administer CPR, use an AED, and relieve choking in a safe, effective and timely manner. $65/person. March 16 through 19 - American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification Class (Session 1) - Monday, March 16-Thursday, March 19, 8 a.m.-4 p.m. at Palm Coast Aquatics Center, 339 Parkview Drive. The purpose of the American Red Cross Lifeguarding course is to provide entry-level lifeguard participants with the knowledge and skills to prevent, recognize and respond to aquatic emergencies and to provide care for breathing and cardiac emergencies, injuries, and sudden illness until emergency medical services (EMS) personnel take over. Your child's day will be filled with a variety of age-appropriate, fun-filled themed activities, such as arts and crafts, stories, recreational games, and nature hikes. This 5-week, child-with-parent program teaches an organized sport that highlights sequential directions and gross motor skills necessary to play soccer. March 28 - First Aid and CPR/AED - Saturday, March 28, 9 a.m.-4 p.m. at Fire Station 25, 1250 Belle Terre Pkwy., Palm Coast. This class is a seven-hour course (one hour for lunch) designed to meet OSHA regulations and teach administering CPR to children and adults, using an Automated External Defibrillator (AED), using a mask or barrier device, assisting with bleeding, sprains, and broken bones. $50/person. Pinochle is a trick-taking card game typically for two to four players and played with a 48-card deck.
