Bishop Kenny High School issued the following announcement.
Congratulations to Senior Mary Schmidt who has been named the Bishop Kenny High School September student of the month. She was selected for Friendship highlighting kindness and humility. Mary wakes up every day with the simple goal of seeing the good in all people. Mary said, “I always remind myself that I don’t know what’s going with others outside of school and that I need to treat them exactly like I would treat Christ.”
Mary has a very rigorous academic schedule and also finds the time to be very involved in extra-curricular activities. Mary puts her faith first and volunteers her time at both Assumption Catholic Church and Bishop Kenny as a lector and altar server. She is an Extraordinary Minister of the Holy Eucharist at BK, and participates in the St. Vincent de Paul Society. Her academic achievements are well represented in the following honor societies; Spanish, Science, Mu Alpha Theta, and National Honor Society. Mary is also a member of the Spanish Club.
Mary enjoys running and is a member of the cross country and track and field teams. Mary credits the friends she has made running at BK and the strong faith component offered at BK with strengthening her morals and values. She would like to attend the University of North Florida to study Health and Administration with the goal of being a hospital administrator.
