Bolles Programs Help New Students Acclimate to Campus

00orientationhp

Bolles School issued the following announcement on Aug. 11.

Orientations and back-to-school events are now complete on all four campuses – with the 2020-21 school year officially launching August 12.

The student-run and counselor-directed events on the middle and upper school campuses help new students feel welcome and comfortable in their school settings. On Wednesday morning, freshman and new upper school students convened in McGehee Auditorium on the Bolles Upper School San Jose Campus for Freshman and New Student Orientation. Following an overview of school life, students left to explore campus, find their classes and visit lockers with upperclassman guides. Both lower school campuses hosted “Meet Your Teacher” events for students and parents to get acquainted with faculty and their classrooms.

On Wednesday afternoon, the middle school WEB (Where Everyone Belongs) leaders and other student ambassadors, faculty and coaches, welcomed sixth graders and new Grade 7 and 8 students to orientation on the Bolles Middle School Bartram Campus. Students learned everything from how to be mindful and how to navigate their schedules to information about school planners, lunch and activities.

Girls Night In, a special program for freshman girls hosted by senior women, was held Tuesday afternoon in Davis Gym, McGehee Auditorium and the Canteen. Upperclassman peers counseled freshman girls about upper school life and pitfalls to avoid, in addition to building fellowship with new peers. The Bulldog Experience, is a similar event for freshman boys, was held August 9 in several venues on the Upper School San Jose Campus. We can’t wait to see everyone on the First Day of School, Thursday, August 12!
