Bartram Students Celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month

5

Bolles School issued the following announcement on Sept. 15.

September 10 through October 10 is Hispanic Heritage Month and students on the Bolles Middle School Bartram Campus are celebrating by learning more about Hispanic culture and characters.

Middle School Librarian Shelley Schaberg is helping to disseminate books, information and knowledge. She created a short video for all students in Grade 6 to watch during their time in the library. She also designed a book display of works by Hispanic authors or about Hispanic characters and culture. She also put the titles into a collection students can find in their online catalog.

Hispanic Heritage Month is an annual celebration of the history and culture of the U.S. Latinx and Hispanic communities. This time was chosen because several Latin American independence days are celebrated during that time including Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Mexico and Chile. The day commemorates how Hispanic communities have influenced and contributed to American society.
