University of North Florida issued the following announcement on Sept. 15.

North Florida Head Men's Basketball coach Matthew Driscoll announced the addition of newcomer Brandon Rasmussen to the Osprey roster for the upcoming 2021-22 season.

Rasmussen, a native of the U.S. Virgin Islands, comes to UNF following a prep playing career at Free Will Baptist Christian School. He averaged 23.0 points per game during his senior season for the Warriors. Rasmussen owns career best performances of 39 points, 12 rebounds and nine assists. He spent the 2020-21 season doing post-graduate work at the Potters House Academy in Jacksonville, Fla.

A 6-4, 183-lbs guard, Rasmussen participated in the 2021 FIBA Championships as a member of the U.S. Virgin Island U17 national team. During the tournament, he averaged 9.0 points and 6.0 rebounds per game while connecting at a 34 percent clip from the 3-point line.

HEAD COACH MATTHEW DRISCOLL:

"Brandon Rasmussen is an amazing addition to our program for a variety of reasons including his servant's heart, his strong commitment to academics and ability to make threes. Brandon possesses the key qualities that consistently keep our 'Birds-of-Trey' style relevant. With his size, release and deep range, Brandon has a gifted skill set that fits exactly into how we want to play. In addition, his FIBA International experience playing on the USVI National Team provides valuable depth to our roster and allows us to compete at a high level daily within our championship culture."
