Jacksonville University issued the following announcement on Sept. 21.
Jacksonville's men's soccer team (1-5-0, 0-0 ASUN) finished its three-game road trip with a 6-0 loss against the No. 13 FIU Panthers (5-1-1). The Panthers scored early and often to shake the Dolphins, making the contest its best offensive performance of the season yet.
The Panthers took control of the game as soon as the teams stepped onto the field. In the second minute of play, the Panther's Julian Hodek took advantage of a free kick to grab a quick 1-0 lead. Through the next eight minutes, FIU made four more shot attempts and held the Dolphins to none. The ball remained heavily on the Dolphins side of the field, as the Panthers continued to carry the momentum in the middle of the half. At the 19 minute mark, the Panthers scored again to extend its lead 2-0.
During the last 20 minutes of the first half, FIU managed to get onto the scoreboard three more times. Stephen Afrifa scored the first of the three at the 30 minute mark, followed by Kareem Riley, who took advantage of a penalty kick to make the score 4-0 with just under ten minutes remaining. To round out the Panthers scoring for the first half, Talla Faye found the back of the net to make the score 5-0 as the clock ran out of time and the players headed to the locker rooms.
The beginning of the second half was no different than the first. Faye scored in the first 20 seconds of the period to put the Panthers ahead by six. Next, FIU attempted four more shots and limited the Dolphins to only one, which would be saved by Panther's starting goalkeeper, Tyler Hogan. The remainder of the half grew silent as the Dolphins came alive on defense and prevented the Panthers from adding more to its lead. Jabari Gray came away with three saves against FIU's 10 shots.
