Nolan named preseason all-ASUN

9

Jacksonville University issued the following announcement on Oct. 6.

Kevion Nolan was named to the Preseason All-ASUN Conference team, as announced by the league office on Wednesday.

The redshirt-junior was one of ten players selected by the coaches to represent the league.

The Anniston, Ala. native was limited by injury in his first season with Jacksonville, but made a statement in the games he participated in. After making his Dolphin debut in December at Miami, he quickly rounded into form at the start of ASUN Conference play, scoring 32 points to help JU rally to win at Kennesaw State in the conference opener. He followed that up the next day with 23 more, including a game-clinching three in the final minute. He swept ASUN Player and Newcomer of the Week honors following his heroic performance against the Owls.

He started eight games total before missing the rest of the season due to injury, but scored at least 15 points in each of his final seven games. He had another memorable moment against North Florida in the conference home opener, hitting a three-pointer to deliver the win with under 30 seconds remaining. He also finished fourth on the team with 33 assists, dishing out five or more in five different games, with a career-best seven dimes against North Florida on Jan. 7.

The first chance to see Nolan and this year's men's basketball team is Friday night at Phin Phever, presented by Baptist Health, where the team will be introduced, compete in games and put on a showcase starting at 7:30 p.m.

The season starts at home on Tuesday, Nov. 9 at 7 p.m., when JU welcomes Trinity Baptist to Swisher Gym.
