Jacksonville University issued the following announcement on Oct. 28.
Jacksonville's Selma Fohrer and Eden Skyers garnered ASUN All-Conference awards after the program's historical season, the league announced Thursday afternoon. Both
student-athletes were named to the All-Freshman team and Skyers was tabbed as one of four defenders on the ASUN All- Conference second team.
This is the first time since 2018 the program has had a rookie duo listed to the conference all-freshman team roster. The last pair to accomplish this was Sarah Alexander Madicynn
Harnish.
Hailing from Krefeld, Germany, Fohrer had a stellar first season as a Dolphin and made herself known as a key forward on the field. She participated in 15 contests, making the
starting lineup 14 times and made her collegiate debut in the regular season opener against South Carolina State. Fohrer recorded her first goals as a Dolphin in the home-opener
against FIU, where she was responsible for two of the three goals that lead JU to victory.
She tied her career-high record for goals scored in a single match with two in the River City Rumble game against North Florida, and was named player of the game for her efforts.
Overall, Fohrer accumulated an impressive five goals, four assists, 30 shots with 14 of the shots on goal as a true freshman.
Skyers is the first all-conference second team selection since the fall of 2017, when Sope Akindoju and Jessica Shaffelburg brought home the honor.
All the way from Beckenham, London, England, Skyers was a solid defender for JU this season. She saw action in 17 games and made the starting lineup 15 times. Her collegiate
debut was also against the South Carolina State Bulldogs in the regular season opener. Skyers was an essential part to the Dolphins defense that propelled the team to success in
matchups against tough opponents including FGCU, Kennesaw and North Florida.
"I am happy for both Eden and Selma, they are a big part of the present and long term future of our program," head coach John Constable said. "Both had solid first years here and
I am excited to see them develop further over the next three years at JU."
