Bolles School issued the following announcement on Nov. 4.
The annual Whitehurst Grade 5 Flag Football Tournament is a favorite time of the fall for all students – and is an important lesson in team management and competition.
The entire grade level divides up into eight flag football teams that coach and manage themselves. Each team competes against all the other teams, and are then seeded for the
playoffs. In the championship round, everyone continues playing, either for the tournament champion or in the consolation bracket. The tournament concluded with two days of play
this week.
“It is amazing how much they improve in those three weeks,” said Coach Victoria Gafford. “Not only with their football skills, but also in teamwork, sportsmanship and leadership.
