University of North Florida issued the following announcement on Dec. 12.
Ospreys Tie UNF Program Record for Blocks With 10, Ospreys Lead Wire-to-Wire
Thanks to a swarming defense and efficient offense in the paint, North Florida women's basketball (6-5) outlasted Bethune-Cookman (2-6) in a 60-47 win Sunday, Dec. 12 from the UNF Arena. The Ospreys led wire-to-wire and blocked 10 shots, tying the program record for blocks in a game.
The Ospreys generated 13 steals, scored 22 points off turnovers and forced the Wildcats into a staggering 28 turnovers. Of UNF's 60 points, 44 came in the paint, with Jazz Bond and Emma Broermann combining for 27.
UNF and B-CU combined for only six three-pointers, but the Ospreys converted nine more buckets inside the arc while holding the Wildcats to 31.5 percent shooting for the game.
Rhetta Moore worked an all-round day, registering 11 points, four rebounds, three assists and a career-best six steals. Bond reached double-digit points for the 10th time this year with a 15-point, nine rebound and four-block performance.
A total of 11 different Osprey saw time, with eight players getting in the scoring column. North Florida is now 5-0 at home.
