The University of North Florida’s LGBTQ Center has been nominated in several categories of the Rainbow Awards JAX by Jax Gay magazine including “Best Local Equality Organization” and “Best Local LGBTQ Annual Event” as well as Manny Velásquez-Paredes, director of the UNF LGBTQ Center, being nominated for the “Most Influential Person Award.”
Public voting for the top three nominees in each category is open until Tuesday, May 31. Supporters are encouraged to get their votes in before the deadline and are allowed to vote multiple times. Winners of this year’s Rainbow Awards will be announced at the annual award ceremony on June 11.
Jax Gay is the only LGBTQ News Media serving the North Florida Area. The Rainbow Awards JAX are designed to recognize different LGBTQ organizations and individuals on an annual basis who help bring awareness to social issues within the Jacksonville community, by hosting events, one-on-one conversations, joint ventures with other non-profits, and being a voice for those that cannot speak for themselves through advocacy.
UNF’s LGBTQ Center is continually recognized for its efforts and commitment to advocacy, equality, community, and support for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, questioning and allied students, faculty, staff and members of the Jacksonville community.
