Jason DeLorenzo Appointed to Chief of Staff for City of Palm Coast

Palm Coast City Manager Denise Bevan has appointed Jason DeLorenzo to the position of Chief of Staff for the City of Palm Coast. This role will serve as third in command under City Manager Bevan and Assistant City Manager Lauren Johnston. DeLorenzo’s role is designed to build leadership within the organization while handling the dynamic, day-to-day operations and pace of work of an organization serving a city of approximately 94,000. 

DeLorenzo has proudly served as Chief Development Officer for the past three years. Through DeLorenzo’s leadership of the “Business Friendly” initiative prioritized by the City Council, the Community Development Department has elevated performance and provides exceptional service through a customer-focused approach.

As Chief of Staff, DeLorenzo will continue to oversee the Community Development Department along with the Parks & Recreation Department, the Economic Development Division, and Legislative Priorities, while managing unique projects and initiatives. 

“Jason is a tremendous asset to this organization,” Bevan said.  “He has consistently delivered positive improvements not only through a strong focus on customer service but also by strengthening relationships with business and community stakeholders.  I believe these successes are a direct reflection of his thoughtful attention to his team and the needs of the community.” 

DeLorenzo joined the city as the Chief Development Officer in July of 2019. He has been instrumental in streamlining the permitting processes, strengthening relationships with stakeholders, fostering a culture of customer service, focusing on the workplace environment while reinforcing the importance of the team, and supporting empowerment and growth of leadership within his department. 

“I thoroughly enjoy leading the Community Development Department, but I feel that I have the capacity to assist the City in other areas as well and I’m grateful for the opportunity to take on the role of Chief of Staff,” DeLorenzo said. “The City of Palm Coast 

Over the course of the last year, City Manager Bevan has prioritized the organization’s focus on succession planning in conjunction with talent retention and recruitment.  Under Ms. Bevan’s leadership, each department created a 5-Year Strategic Plan that reflects organizational alignment with the core mission and values of the City of Palm Coast. This process has enabled departments to successfully build depth in leadership and readied DeLorenzo to step into the appointment of Chief of Staff. 

DeLorenzo will maintain his role as Director of the Community Development Department while stepping into the Chief of Staff role. This transition will be mentored and evaluated by the City Manager over the course of the next year to ensure the continuum of excellence in leadership and shift in roles and responsibilities.

DeLorenzo studied Aerospace Engineering at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University and is currently working on a bachelor’s degree in Public Administration. He previously held the role of Government Affairs Director for the Flagler Homebuilders Association for ten years.  Jason has lived in Palm Coast since 2004, along with his wife Rebecca and daughter Lorelei.
