At this time (12 pm on September 27), we urge everyone to make any necessary arrangements to ensure the safety of their families and homes. Although we do not expect Ian to be a proper hurricane when it comes close to Jacksonville Beach and Duval County, we are under a Tropical Storm warning and should expect heavy wind, heavy rain, flooding, storm surge, and more.
The City of Jacksonville Beach has declared a state of emergency, as has Duval County (as of noon on September 28) and the entire state of Florida.
Jacksonville Beach City offices will close tomorrow (September 28) at noon.
The City of Jacksonville Beach does not give out sandbags.
