Bolles Artists Create “Manta and Ray” for Deck the Chairs | Bolles School
Bolles upper school students collaborated to create a sculpture entry for Deck The Chairs in Jacksonville Beach, which is featured in the Beaches Go Green Deckin’ Sustainability Student Exhibit until January 1. The student work titled "Manta and Ray," like Santa and Sleigh, is an illuminated 12-foot manta ray and a team of stingrays towing a net to clean up the ocean.
Led by upper school art teacher Tiffany Gonzalez, the students built the sculpture using recycled materials – many of which were donated by students across all four Bolles campuses. Upper school fine arts teacher Lily Kuonen also worked with her 2D art students to create an illustrated PDF presentation with sustainable living tips to accompany the sculpture.
