U.S. Congressman Aaron Bean (FL-04) made a surprise visit to Stanton College Preparatory School in Jacksonville to announce the winners of the 2023 Congressional App Competition (CAC). The winners, Victor Zhang, Arvan Thakur, Prithish Shan, and Alan Alwakeel, were recognized for their app called "GeoBlend," which offers users an immersive augmented reality experience to explore historical sites around Jacksonville.
In a ceremony attended by school administrators, teachers, and Duval County leadership, Congressman Bean praised the students for their ingenuity and creativity in using sophisticated coding software and technology. He stated, "The Fourth District has so many innovative and talented students, and I am amazed by the ingenuity displayed in this year's competition. Congratulations to all our applicants, and I cannot wait to see what the future holds for the next wave of young innovators."
The Congressional App Competition (CAC) aims to highlight the importance of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) education by providing students with an opportunity to enhance their coding and technology skills. Middle and high school students from the Fourth District are eligible to compete in this annual competition.
As part of their achievement, this year's winners will have their app displayed in the U.S. Capitol Building and featured online at the House of Representative's website. They will also be invited to a celebratory reception on Capitol Hill to honor their accomplishment.
