WASHINGTON—Congressman Aaron Bean (FL-04) took a firm stance against the Further Consolidated Appropriations Act 2024, a $1.2 trillion package of six appropriations bills, by voting 'No' during the House session. In a statement following the vote, Congressman Bean expressed his concerns regarding the fiscal implications and national security aspects of the bill.

"Congress’ spending addiction must come to an end. I voted against today’s minibus not only for the Fourth District but for all Americans. The 1,012-page appropriations package does not address the critical issues we are facing. Rather, it continues Washington’s out of control spending that will bankrupt our economy at the expense of hardworking Americans," stated Congressman Bean, highlighting his reasons for opposing the spending bill.

Furthermore, Congressman Bean emphasized the national security risks associated with the legislation, stating, "Even worse, this misguided measure does little to address our most immediate national security threat—our porous, open border that is being invaded by criminals, gangs, and terrorists. Providing more detention beds and more agents for processing while allowing the administration's catch-and-release practices to continue will do little to stop the flow of illegal migrants, drugs, and crime into cities across America."

In conclusion, Congressman Bean reiterated his commitment to fiscal responsibility and safeguarding the future of the younger generation, stating, "We owe it to the next generation to rein in our unsustainable debt. I could not in good conscience support legislation that will mortgage their future and imperil their freedom and liberty.”

This firm stance taken by Congressman Bean reflects his dedication to addressing critical issues and concerns within the appropriations bill, particularly in relation to fiscal responsibility and national security.
