U.S. Congressman Aaron Bean (FL-04) has expressed his approval following the passage of the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for Fiscal Year 2025 (FY25).
"Today, I voted to safeguard America’s future, support our great warfighters and their families, and solidify Northeast Florida’s critical role in our nation’s national security," stated Congressman Bean.
Bean highlighted the challenges faced by military families, particularly junior enlisted servicemembers who often rely on food stamps. He noted that the bill includes a significant 20 percent pay raise for junior enlisted personnel, improvements in cost-of-living calculations, and expanded housing and food allowances. "These historic improvements in the quality of life for our servicemembers are critical because now, more than ever, we need to recruit and retain the best and the brightest," he said.
The legislation aims to ensure that the U.S. military remains unchallenged globally by investing in emerging technologies, upholding nuclear posture, and strengthening military readiness. It also seeks to meet national security needs while rejecting what Bean described as "the radical left’s divisive woke policies."
"For these reasons, I was proud to advance this defense bill that supports our servicemembers and our military families who dedicate their lives to protecting and defending our glorious American freedoms," concluded Congressman Bean.
The NDAA is an annual piece of legislation that outlines changes to policies and organization within U.S. defense agencies and provides guidance on military funding expenditures. Although actual funding must be approved through appropriation bills, the NDAA establishes defense priorities and offers organizational guidance to the Department of Defense.
