WASHINGTON—Today, U.S. Congressman Aaron Bean (FL-04) and the Clay County Board of Commissioners announced that starting August 24, 2024, Clay County residents in the 32234 ZIP code can list their address as Clay Hill.

“I have been working collaboratively with residents of Clay Hill and the Clay County Board of Commissioners to advocate for overdue changes in the way the U.S. Postal Service identifies Clay Hill and its ZIP code,” said Congressman Bean. “The approval of Clay Hill as an alternate last line designation is a significant milestone more than three decades in the making. This is about more than simply making sure residents can access services in Clay County without explaining why their address says Jacksonville. It’s about the sense of pride the people in Clay Hill have for their community, and finally seeing that represented in their addresses.”

"This is a really big deal for our Clay Hill community,” said Clay County District 4 Commissioner Betsy Condon. “After many commissioners and Congressional Representatives worked on this project for many years, I am honored to be a part of being able to truly recognize this community as Clay Hill, Florida. I appreciate the strong partnership with Congressman Bean and look forward to partnering on other projects to serve our constituents but for now, we celebrate with our residents!”

BACKGROUND

The Clay Hill area of Clay County is an unincorporated community near the Duval County line. Residents’ addresses for official forms read Jacksonville, although they are not in Jacksonville, nor Duval County, and no part of Jacksonville extends into Clay County.

When he first began representing Clay Hill in Congress, one of the most frequent concerns Congressman Bean heard from his new constituents was about the numerous problems posed by the lack of an accurate county designation for the community.

The approval of Clay Hill as an acceptable mailing name within the 32234 ZIP code will ensure residents and businesses receive the attention and service they deserve.
