U.S. Congressman Aaron Bean (FL-04) has expressed strong support for a series of legislative measures aimed at countering the influence of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) and enhancing national security. These actions come amid criticisms of the Biden-Harris Administration's approach to handling threats posed by China.

“The Biden-Harris administration is not serious about addressing the rising threat posed by Communist China. By refusing to stand up against the CCP, the Biden-Harris administration has made it clear they have no intention of ending their policy of appeasement,” said Congressman Bean. “Our wakeup call came in the form of a Chinese spy balloon, and that’s why I voted in strong support of real protections against the threats that the Chinese Communist Party poses to our military, economy, and our values.”

The key highlights of these bills include:

H.R. 1398, Protecting America’s Innovation and Economic Security from CCP Act: This bill aims to reestablish a Trump-era initiative within the National Security Division of the Department of Justice to address espionage by the CCP on U.S. intellectual property and academic institutions.

H.R. 9456, Protecting American Agriculture from Foreign Adversaries Act: This legislation seeks to strengthen protection of U.S. agricultural land and biotechnology from foreign investments by adversarial nations like China, ensuring food security remains under American control.

H.R. 1516, DHS Restrictions on Confucius Institutes and Chinese Entities of Concern Act: This measure combats Chinese government influence and espionage by prohibiting the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) from providing funding to any U.S. institution of higher education that maintains a relationship with a Confucius Institute funded by the Government of the People’s Republic of China (PRC) or a “Chinese entity of concern.”

H.R. 7980, End Chinese Dominance of Electric Vehicles in America Act of 2024: This bill aims to prevent China from benefiting from tax loopholes under current policies by closing those that advantage foreign adversaries.
