In Washington, U.S. Congressmen Aaron Bean and Pete Sessions have initiated the Delivering Outstanding Government Efficiency (DOGE) Caucus. The caucus aims to tackle waste, fraud, and abuse within the federal government. It supports President-Elect Donald Trump’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), which is tasked with reducing government bureaucracy, cutting regulations, minimizing wasteful spending, and restructuring federal agencies.
Congressman Bean emphasized the urgency of addressing the national debt, which has exceeded $36 trillion. "Our national debt has surpassed a staggering $36 trillion and should be a wakeup call for all Americans. We must take action to avoid diving headfirst off the cliff of fiscal ruin," he stated. He expressed support for President-elect Trump's choice of Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy to lead DOGE but acknowledged that significant challenges lie ahead: "I’m thrilled with President-elect Trump’s appointment of Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy to lead DOGE, but taking on Crazy Town will be no easy task—they will need partners. Our DOGE Caucus will work closely with the Department of Government Efficiency to help rein in reckless spending and stop the abuse of taxpayer dollars."
Congressman Sessions highlighted his role as Chairman of the Subcommittee on Government Operations and the Federal Workforce in identifying government inefficiencies. "As Chairman of the Subcommittee on Government Operations and the Federal Workforce, it has been my priority to identify and stop ongoing waste, fraud, and abuse in our government," he said. Citing a GAO report revealing over $2.7 trillion in fraud and improper payments since 2003, Sessions added: "This is an absolutely unacceptable misuse of taxpayer dollars. Hardworking Americans deserve a government that works efficiently and effectively." He expressed eagerness to collaborate with Congressman Bean as Co-Chair of the DOGE Caucus.
Earlier this year, Congressman Bean introduced H.R. 8777, known as the “Cutting Unobligated Tumultuous Spending (CUTS) Act,” aiming to reduce federal funding by $95 billion.
