U.S. Congressman Aaron Bean and U.S. Congressman Pete Sessions have initiated the Delivering Outstanding Government Efficiency (DOGE) Caucus, aiming to tackle waste, fraud, and abuse within government operations. The caucus was launched in the House on November 19, with U.S. Senator Joni Ernst introducing it in the Senate on November 22.
Congressman Bean emphasized the urgency of addressing the national debt, which has exceeded $36 trillion. He stated, “Our national debt has surpassed a staggering $36 trillion and should be a wakeup call for all Americans. We must take action to avoid diving headfirst off the cliff of fiscal ruin." He further added that the DOGE Caucus intends to collaborate with President Trump, Elon Musk, and Vivek Ramaswamy to reduce bureaucracy and cut unnecessary spending.
Senator Ernst expressed her commitment to reducing government waste: “Iowans elected me with a mandate to cut Washington’s pork and make ‘em squeal! From billion-dollar boondoggles to welfare for politicians and trillion-dollar slush funds, my decade-long investigations have exposed levels of abuse that are almost too insane to believe.” She assured that the Senate DOGE Caucus is prepared to oversee Congress's actions against inefficiency.
Congressman Sessions highlighted his dedication as Chairman of the Subcommittee on Government Operations and the Federal Workforce: “As Chairman of the Subcommittee on Government Operations and the Federal Workforce on the House Committee on Oversight and Accountability, addressing waste, fraud, and abuse in government has been a top priority of mine.” He noted that since 2003 over $2.7 trillion has been lost due to fraud and improper payments.
The DOGE Caucus will support President Trump's Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), led by Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy. In addition to Congressman Bean and Senator Ernst, other members from both chambers have joined this initiative.
