On December 4, at 10:15 a.m., the Subcommittee on Early Childhood, Elementary, and Secondary Education will convene for a hearing titled “Back to Basics: America’s Founding, Civics, and Self-Government in K-12 Curricula.” The session will be chaired by U.S. Congressman Aaron Bean of Florida's 4th District.

Chairman Bean expressed concerns about the current state of education in American schools. He stated, "School districts across the country have lost their way. Instead of focusing on the basics of American history teachers and administrators have taken it upon themselves to indoctrinate the youngest students with terms like ‘slavocracy,’ radical ideology about sexuality, and discriminatory lessons about Israelis as ‘colonial settlers.’” He emphasized the need for an educational focus that accurately teaches American history and civics while promoting a free exchange of ideas.

The hearing will take place at the Rayburn House Office Building in room 2175. It is open to press members and will also be available via live stream on the Committee’s YouTube page.
