U.S. Congressman Aaron Bean of Florida's 4th District has been appointed to serve on three subcommittees within the House Ways and Means Committee. The subcommittees are Social Security, Work and Welfare, and Oversight.

Congressman Bean expressed his gratitude for the appointments, stating: “I am honored to be selected to serve on the Social Security, Work and Welfare, and Oversight Subcommittees. These are three powerful subcommittees that will provide a great platform to fight for Northeast Florida priorities in Washington."

He further emphasized his commitment to addressing national challenges: "Whether strengthening our workforce, protecting American workers’ retirement, or reining in the supercharged IRS, I am confident my colleagues and I will successfully meet the challenges our nation faces and deliver for the American people.”

The Subcommittee on Social Security handles issues related to federal insurance systems such as Old Age, Survivors, Disability Insurance System, Railroad Retirement System, employment taxes, and trust fund operations associated with these systems.

The Subcommittee on Work and Welfare focuses on public assistance provisions under the Social Security Act. This includes temporary assistance for needy families (TANF), child care services, family services like adoption and foster care support, supplemental security income (SSI), social services eligibility including food stamps welfare recipients can access, as well as low-income energy assistance programs.

Lastly is The Subcommittee On Oversight which manages matters involving Internal Revenue Code along with other revenue-related issues.
