In Washington, the White House Budget Office has issued a memorandum recommending a temporary freeze on all federal grants and loans. This decision prompted U.S. Congressman Aaron Bean from Florida's 4th district to express his support for the initiative.

Congressman Bean stated, "As elected officials, we must be good stewards of taxpayer money to ensure it supports our nation, citizens, and interests." He explained that this temporary pause is intended to help the Trump administration identify and eliminate waste, fraud, and abuse of taxpayer dollars. The aim is also to examine federal spending for compliance with recent executive orders issued by former President Trump.

Bean emphasized that the memo does not apply to individual assistance programs such as food stamps, Medicaid, Social Security, or welfare. Furthermore, he assured that most grants would not face significant impacts beyond what he hopes will be a short delay.
