U.S. Congressmen Aaron Bean and Cory Mills have introduced H.R. 2006, known as the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) Act. This bill aims to formalize President Trump's Department of Government Efficiency into federal law.

Congressman Bean expressed his support for the initiative: “DOGE’s mission is to improve government efficiency and to stop the abuse of taxpayer dollars—and it’s doing just that. As co-chair of the House DOGE Caucus, I am proud to join Congressman Mills in introducing the DOGE Act to codify President Trump’s executive order into law. The American people overwhelmingly support ending waste, fraud, and abuse, and we are working to restore accountability to the American public.”

Congressman Mills highlighted DOGE's achievements: “According to the agency themselves, DOGE has already achieved over $115 billion in savings, which amounts to more than $700 in savings per taxpayer. They are rooting out waste and fraud, including the cancellation of 104 DEI contracts, saving the government more than $1 billion." He added an example of what he considers wasteful spending: "One of my favorite finds was when DOGE identified that the Biden administration spent $8 million performing transgender experiments on mice. This is the type of wasteful spending that the American taxpayer deserves transparency on."

The bill is supported by several cosigners: Representatives Byron Donalds (FL-19), Barry Moore (AL-01), Michael Rulli (OH-06), Victoria Spartz (IN-05), Darrell Issa (CA-48), and Mary Miller (IL-15).

The Department of Government Efficiency was established through Executive Order 14158 by renaming the United States Digital Service as the United States DOGE Service. It also created a temporary organization aimed at promoting efficiency goals within an initial period but set for termination on July 4, 2026.

If passed, this legislation will require each federal agency head to form teams dedicated to collaborating with DOGE for maximizing productivity across federal operations.

Further details about this legislation can be accessed online.
